Chicago Ideas Week Is Upon Us

Message to DP Students From Dirk Fletcher:


Over the summer I advertised a unique opportunity to be involved in a class that would spend a week photographing Chicago’s first Chicago Ideas Week (http://www.chicagoideas.com/about)
a weeklong event that will bring the world’s top speakers together with Chicago’s best thinkers to create an ecosystem of innovation, exploration, and intellectual recreation.  An entire week of content that is similar in nature to the TED talks which Harrington students will also be photographing at the end of this week.

Chicago Ideas Week, CIW,  has has been gracious enough to provided all of our students with a discount code for our students and faculty that can be used to completely wave the $15.00 fee for the lectures and labs which is CIWHarrington11.

Please look at the roster of presentations and attend what seems interesting, this is a fantastic opportunity.

One talk in particular that EVERYONE should be at is tomorrow from 12:00 to 1:30 at Columbia Colleges Film Row building is simply called Photography.  It features four photographers, three of which are National Geographic shooters, here is a link:  http://www.chicagoideas.com/2011/05/photography/.

You must preregister on the Chicago Ideas Week website for any event you wish to attend.

Also, please be patient with the cage this week as we have absolutely ransacked it in order to issue each photographer in the class with a matching set of gear for the portraits we will be doing of each speaker.  You will especially notice a shortage of pocket wizards and high end lenses.
